My photography business grew from a desire to learn how to take professional portraits of my kids, while also capturing the cute and sweet moments of their childhood. Their portraits and candid images are such a treasure to me now which is why my photography style has evolved into what it is today - family portraits with candid moments mixed in to capture personalities and family relationships

I took this families pictures years ago when I was still relatively new in the photography world. It was fun to see how my images have progressed since then. Owning my own business can be time consuming and progress feels frustratingly slow sometimes, but I’ve noticed if I compare my progress from year-to-year, rather than month-to-month, I feel like I’m actually getting stuff done, improving my services, and getting better as a photographer. So by broadening my view I’m able to give myself grace. If you are frustrated as an entrepreneur or feeling stuck in a rut, look at where you are now compared to where you were a year ago, and maybe you’ll take a more positive outlook on your progress.

As for this spot, these views are pretty much as good as it gets. This spot is really close to a lot of my clients and every bit as amazing as any of the places I go with an hour drive. Also, notice how green the hills are! These were taken in early September, and that much green in Utah is a RARE find that time of year. However, the light can be really tricky here. I see that as a bonus for keeping crowds away, since I know how to utilize light in every situation. Because of the lighting and limited space, I only recommend this spot for groups under 10 people. I definitely wouldn’t try shooting here with a photog just starting out. You’d never guess this was even a good spot when we park, but if your photographer understand angles, how to run the shoot completely based on what the sun is doing, and you want epic views, this is a spot for you.
