This session was such a dream — golden light, soft mountain air, and a family that radiated warmth and connection. This family met me in one of my favorite mountain spots in Utah, County, where the tall grass catches the sunset just right, and every photo feels like a story in itself. We started with the full family — laughter, teasing, and those quiet in-between moments that always end up being my favorites. I love watching families interact naturally, especially when there’s a range of ages. Everyone has their role — the big siblings joking around, the younger ones giggling in between — and my job is to capture all those little connections that make a family feel like home. After we got our family photos, we transitioned into a little senior session magic! One of my favorite things is combining these two types of sessions — it’s the best of both worlds. You get those timeless family portraits and a chance to celebrate your senior’s big moment. Let’s talk about this family + senior session in the mountains.
Senior Session Spotlight ✨
For her senior portraits, we leaned into soft light and a natural, relaxed vibe — lots of movement, laughter, and confidence. One of my favorite poses for senior girls is the “playing with your hair” shot. It’s effortless and feminine, but there’s one key tip to make it look natural and flattering:
👉 Keep your elbow forward, not to the side.
You don’t want to show your armpit to the camera (trust me, the angle never works in your favor!). Instead, bring your elbow slightly forward and think “soft hands.” This creates a gentle, elegant line while still keeping the movement real and candid.
Senior girls love this shot — it gives just the right amount of personality without feeling too posed.
As the sun dipped behind the hills, the family stood together, arms wrapped around each other, smiling in that effortless, genuine way that happens when you’re surrounded by your people. That’s what I love most about photography — it’s not just about a perfect pose or outfit; it’s about freezing a feeling you’ll want to return to for years.
It’s not to early to schedule your upcoming family/senior session!
