This is what I do. These casual un-poses are my favorite. After I get a more “placed” look, I tell everyone to squish or cuddle for a waist up shot. This look isn’t for everyone, but if casual with everyone still looking and smiling appeals to you, then we are a GOOD fit. It can be hard to find a photographer that delivers in both of those areas.
We took these in the Alpine hills. With a new parking lot there, this spot has become accessible with less walking which is nice for my clients. It works great for small groups up to about 15 people. The landscape is too uneven for big extended groups though.
It’s a privilege to document families in this stage, enjoying the last little bit of time together before major changes like a attending college or leaving on a mission. This family need family and mission pictures for their oldest, so the oldest boy changed into his mission get-up at the end so we could do both shoots in the same evening. It’s nice to do both at once since “kids” at that age are generally really busy.
