Being a family photographer in Utah, I’ve done my fair share of extended families. It’s not a popular genre among photographers (cause they are looooots of work and there’s less time for creativity), but because I love the traditional family portrait, I love them! I’ve seen how a family portrait can bring a mom/grandma to tears as she looks at all the people she loves most in the same photo. I did portraits for both sides of my extended families last year and I love walking into my parents and in-laws house and seeing them displayed on the wall.
When you are in a phase where you’ve added your first couple of grand babies but you aren’t a full blown extended family yet, your session might look something like this. Its a really fun phase to photograph, all the siblings are still really fun together plus you get some adorable grandkids to dote on. My prices are usually custom for these sessions, somewhere between my normal session price (which you can see here)and my extended family price.
