Fall is in full bloom here in Park City, Utah, and I couldn’t be more excited. Capturing those beautiful family moments in outdoor photo sessions is always an honor! If you’re starting to think about your own family session, here are a few tips to ensure we have an amazing, relaxed, and fun time together. Trust me, this is going to be a session you’ll treasure forever.
Looking for outfits for your upcoming Fall photography session?
Embrace the Imperfection
While we’ll definitely capture those polished, everyone-smiling-at-the-camera shots, the real magic happens when you let go.
When you’re not worried about perfect smiles or unscuffed shoes, you’re free to be in the moment, and that’s when your family’s unique personality shines through. Kids pick up on stress, so if you’re feeling tense, they’ll mirror that energy. But if you come ready to have fun and let things flow naturally, you’ll end up with images that tell the true story of your family—full of love, laughter, and a little bit of chaos (in the best way possible).
Get Ready to Play!
This is my number one piece of advice for YOUNG families: come ready to play! There’s something magical about letting your guard down and having fun together. And if you’ve got little ones, play is their language. They turn everything into a game, so lean into that. Think about the moments that make you smile the most as a family—bring that energy with you to the session!
Not sure how to be playful in front of the camera? Don’t worry—I’ll guide you through it. Whether it’s spinning your little one in the air or having a tickle fight, these moments are what make for genuine, joy-filled photos.
Show Some Love
And finally, don’t be afraid to show affection! Whether it’s hugs, kisses, or snuggles, these moments of closeness are some of the most beautiful to capture. Every family has its own way of showing love, and we’ll honor that. Maybe your kids love to be chased down for kisses or prefer to snuggle quietly in your arms—whatever feels natural to you, we’ll go with it.
At the end of the day, my goal is to create a session that feels relaxed, authentic, and full of love. These are the moments you’ll look back on for years to come—the laughter, the play, and the real-life love that makes your family unique. So let’s do this. Let’s make magic together this fall!
