If you are into family photography that shows your kids personalities and IF you love a good candid photo, then listen up. When your kids get excited about something or start playing with each other during a session (even if it’s not what I was anticipating doing at that moment), Let. Them. Play. These kids were totally well behaved and listed to me when I was doing classic portraits, but Mom in this photo was wise and let them play too, and even pick up a stick or two (gasp). You’d be surprised at how most kids light up when they find their favorite stick they plan on hauling around. As long as they don’t wave it around my lenses, I’m fully on board with stick-finding on the back half of the session after we’ve got most of the classic portraits finished. Check out all the candid gorgeousness in this session. I could really see the kids loved each other and I think it showed cause Mom let them play.
