My photography business grew from a desire to learn how to take incredible portraits of my babies and toddlers, while also capturing the cute and sweet moments of their childhood. Both types of images are such a treasure to me now which is why my photography style has evolved into what it is today - family portraits with candid moments mixed in to capture personalities and family relationships

Three reasons you need an extended family photography session

I have a confession to make. I love taking extended family photos. Why is this a confession you might be thinking? Because taking photos of large groups is not trendy or cool in the photography world. Being super creative gets you noticed among other photographers, and don’t get me wrong, I love seeing really creative stuff in my feed!  But I’m not here to be noticed by other photogs, I’m here to find clients who love what I do and see the value in what I deliver. Here’s a few reasons why you might want an extended family photography session even though you maybe didn’t know it yet?

  1. Do your parents or in-laws already have most of the things they want or need? Ya mine too. Guess what? You can give them a family portrait like one of these (below), and even the parent who has everything will be elated.
  2. Want an awesome family portrait that is Christmas-card worthy?  Each family gets their own individual family breakout during each of my extended family shoots, not to mention a picture of grandma and grandpa alone and any other groupings you want.
  3. Can’t afford a full shoot for your family but still want something you can hang on your wall? Extended family shoots are much cheaper per family than a full shoot you pay for all yourself. Depending on the number of people in your Extended Family group, a shoot will run you between $400-$600, but if you divide that by 4 or 5 families (because let’s face it Utah, our families are BIG), your shoot will likely still be less than $150 per family and that’s IF grandma and grandpa are getting it as a gift. So let’s see, a gift for your parents AND a family portrait for your wall AND a picture for your Christmas card for $150 or less.

Sure it’s crazy getting everyones schedules together and figuring out what to wear, but when Mom/Grandma hangs a picture in her living room and you get a picture over your fireplace and your Christmas cards printed, it’ll all be worth it.

Want someone that can handle a huge group and actually have everyone look natural and be seen?  Whether your family is just starting to grow, or you have a group of 45, I’m your girl. Hit the contact button to inquire.
