As a photographer my goal is to have you love the way you look in your photos when you get them back. After 13 years of photography I know that sometimes when the camera comes out we can freeze and forget what to do with our hands or body. Some photographers don’t know how to guide and direct you during your session. However, learning a few basic tips before your session will help the process.
Your hands should always have purpose during a photography session! Here are two easy-to-learn tips that will make you feel and look good in your photos.
DOUBLE ARM HOLD
During family photography sessions my goal is to show the real connection of families. One way to do that is to get the group close together and connected in some way. The double arm hold brings that connection in a big way. Notice how the mom wraps her arms around her daughter holding onto both arms. It brings them in close and gives their hands purpose.
DOUBLE HAND HOLD
Dangling hands have no purpose and draw unwanted attention. One way to avoid it, is to hold someone else’s hand, with both your hands.. For moms if you are reaching down to one of your kids, have your kids grab your hand with both hands. It will give both of their hands something to do.
Giving your hands purpose during your photography session will help you to love the way you look and feel about your photos. Stay tuned for more tips coming soon!
