Communicate with Your Photographer
While scheduling make sure you chat with your photographer to let them know in advance that your pet will be joining the session. That way she can make sure she brings a squeaky toy that will help the dog look towards the camera direction.
Choose a Pet-Friendly Location
Choose a location where your pet is allowed. There are many canyons (including Big Cottonwood) and water-shed areas on Utah where pets are restricted, so make sure dogs are allowed at the location you’re planning to go.
Bring Essentials
Don’t forget to pack your leash. You may not want the dog in every shot, or your puppy may not cooperate well, so it’s nice to be able to hook their leash to a tree when you want some pictures without your pet.
Be Patient and Flexible
Pets can be unpredictable, and that’s perfectly okay! The candid moments when your pet is just being themselves help bring out genuine expressions from your family.
Have Fun!
Above all, enjoy the process. Pets bring joy and spontaneity to a photo session. Embrace the unpredictability and cherish the unique moments that only they can provide.
I completely understand that your pets are family, and I’m dedicated to capturing the love and connection you share. By following these tips, together we can create beautiful, lasting memories that include every member of your family, furry friends included.
