My photography business grew from a desire to learn how to take professional portraits of my kids, while also capturing the cute and sweet moments of their childhood. Their portraits and candid images are such a treasure to me now which is why my photography style has evolved into what it is today - family portraits with candid moments mixed in to capture personalities and family relationships

As a Utah County photographer, I get it—family photo sessions can feel stressful, especially for Mom. Having been in front of the camera with my own family, I know how overwhelming it can be. But don’t worry, I’ve got some tips to help ease the process, so you can focus on what really matters and enjoy a smooth, relaxed and stress free session together.

You might think you just aren’t “photogenic” or that you’re awkward in front of the camera, but what you don’t know, is that you can look great in photos RIGHT NOW.  So, it’s great you’re here because I can teach my tried and true ways to looking amazing in photos.

As fellow mom and Park City Photographer, I understand the pressure you feel when it’s time for family photos. You’ve invested a lot, and you want those photos to be perfect. Trust me, I’ve been there. It’s easy to get caught up in wanting everything to go smoothly—hoping the kids will be on their best behavior and that every little detail will be just right. But sometimes, that stress shows up in the photos. I often see moms looking tense or worried because their kids aren’t acting picture-perfect, and I totally get it.

But here’s something we often forget: why are we taking these photos in the first place? Is it really about having everything perfectly posed, or is it about capturing genuine memories and the real personalities of your kids at this stage of life? I think deep down, we know it’s the latter. Before your session begins there are a few things you can do to take the stress out of your session. Here is my Family Session Checklist.

So, here’s my challenge to you, Momma. As a Utah photographer who’s worked with countless families over the years, I encourage you to embrace the beautiful chaos of family life. Let your photographer take the reins, and unless they ask you to step in, just relax and enjoy the moment. I’ve learned how to bring a sense of calm to the session, shift the mood when needed, and find ways to make everyone feel comfortable—including you, Mom.

If you let yourself just play, be present, and allow your photographer to guide the session, I promise it’ll make a world of difference. Your photos will turn out more natural, your smiles will be more genuine, and you’ll end up with images that feel true to your family’s unique story. A stress-free session means happier, more authentic photos—and memories that you’ll treasure forever.

I would love to work with you and your family! Contact me to book your session.
